Supplying energy has more than one meaning
Today energy is one of the key factors in economic and social development. Enel is aware of its essential role in the socio-economic development of communities in which it operates. The vision of the group is a world where energy is produced without environmental impact and is accessible to all.
Customer expectations
Innovation and quality of the energy supply are the foundation of customer relationships. To ensure a high level of service and competitive conditions, Enel has a highly competitive pricing policy, offers related services and ensures ease of access to energy.
Enel Staff
Enel considers its 82,518 employees as assets which it must invest in every day. The company guarantees an opportunity for professional growth through training, skills upgrading and knowledge sharing.
Safety at work
Safety is an essential condition for employee productivity. That is why the Enel group commits to disseminating and consolidating a culture of safety by developing risk awareness and promoting individual responsibility. In 2008, the commitment to the health and safety of workers exceeded 88 million euros (including the cost of personnel dedicated to safety), taking into account the restructuring and adaptation of office space and facilities. The steady reduction of workplace accidents (59% decrease in frequency - excluding activities in Portugal - and a 50% decrease in the severity index in the last 4 years) is a consequence of the strict implementation of the safety regulations, to which was added a training plan that actively involves all workers.
Corporate Responsibility
Vis-à-vis all stakeholders, Enel has specific responsibilities in economic, environmental and social areas. Maintaining and growing the business in line with these expectations is the group's daily challenge. The integration of sustainability objectives, in terms of industrial development and reporting their results, are the means adopted in the pursuit of excellence in corporate responsibility. Since 2003, Enel has reported, fully and transparently, through sustainability reporting, the results obtained in all activities related to stakeholders, but also by respecting the principles and commitments set by the Code of Ethics. For 6 years the group has been listed in the prestigious Dow Jones sustainability index and its presence in other international indices has been recognised by many socially responsible investment funds. In maintaining its commitment to accountability, Enel, as an international economy company, is ready to respond to the cultural changes, opportunities and challenges facing it.
