The Archilede Project
In 2008 Enel Sole, the European leader in public lighting, developed a completely innovative system based on a last generation LED technology (Light-Emitting Diode). The Archilede project by was produced Guzzini, and uses innovative "smart" electronics that allow maximum flexibility while controlling every source of light.
Its main features are:
- It achieves significant energy savings while assuring an excellent visual comfort;
- It provides uniform lighting - without any blind spots or loss of upward flow - and contributes effectively to light pollution reduction policies;
- The single light point has high adjusting (programmable) flexibility ("dimmering");
- It's an IMQ certified product, with a high reliability - significantly higher than that of traditional technologies - having been demonstrated through laboratory tests;
- Disposal of exhausted components with low environmental impact
The project will allow a 40%energy saving as regards to public lighting from traditional technologies, and up to 60% compared to lower efficiency technologies.
The pilot phase of the installation has begun in three Italian cities - Alessandria, Piacenza and Lodi - where lighting quality and environmental protection will be combined.
