Enel France - Energy in tune with you

Enel in France and Belgium

Having been present in France since 2005, and in Belgium since 2008, Enel France is becoming a leading alternative provider on the French-speaking market.
Enel France is developing its activities both upstream in production, and downstream, serving consumers.

Enel France is one of the leading French nuclear companies. Following an agreement signed between Enel and EDF with the backing of both the French and Italian governments, Enel France participates in 12.5% of EPR (Evolutionary Pressurized water Reactor) nuclear power projects in Flamanville (1660 MW) and Penly. Enel France also has options of 12.5% in the next four EDF EPRs in France. Today around sixty Enel engineers are working on the Flamanville 3 project: the plant will be operational in 2012.

Thanks to this agreement Enel France now has, in 2010, a capacity expected from nuclear sources that amounts to 1000 MW.

Spurred on by an ambitious energy policy, the French electricity industry presents many opportunities for development. Being well established in France, Enel France plans to seize all opportunities for growth: the company is currently negotiating the acquisition of interests in combined cycle gas.

Other production projects are under construction in Belgium with completion scheduled for July 2011. On this point, Enel France has partnered with the Duferco steel company to build a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) of 420 MW and a power plant that reuses gas from the industrial site of Marchienne-au-Pont, near Charleroi, to produce approximately 65 MW of electricity.

To this end, Enel France benefits from its strong experience in thermal management, knowledge of the best technologies implemented in European markets, and its knowledge of the French market.

Marketing & Trading

Enel France, which also owns 5% of the Powernext stock exchange, is already very active in the organised wholesale market and has sold electricity to the largest French companies since 2005. The company triples its customer base every year and plans to sell more than 5 TWh in 2010. Enel France, through its trading department, holds 5% of EPEX (European Power Exchange) and is also an important player in the organised electricity market in France.
